LRAD-RX will be installed at the Pentagon's main visitor entrace, company says
LRAD, a provider ofacoustic hailing devices (AHDs), announced on July 12 that it has received an order for a LRAD-RX installation at the main visitors' entrance of the Pentagon as part of a security upgrade.
The order was received from SimplexGrinnell, a Tyco International company and a longtime leader in life safety and property protection.
"Having our LRAD-RX system being installed at a prominent entrance to help secure the Pentagon is noteworthy," commented Tom Brown, president and CEO of LRAD. "The LRAD-RX will provide Pentagon security officials the ability to remotely issue warnings and instructions that can unequivocally be heard and understood in any outdoor environment. By broadcasting highly intelligible voice commands and powerful warning tones, the LRAD-RX creates standoff and safety zones that can prevent uncertain situations from escalating into major security breaches."
Featuring the company's robust, IP-addressable full pan and tilt drive for precise aiming and tracking, the directional broadcasts of the LRAD-RX enable security officers to communicate instructions and warnings with 100 percent intelligibility in any language to individuals or large groups, says an LRAD press release issued on July 12.
Brown concluded, "LRAD's inclusion in this security upgrade highlights its ability to fill a crucial communications gap in the perimeter security of critical infrastructure."
